Meet The Leaders of the CFCC Intern Program
Brett Kokoruda
A competitive athlete his entire life, Brett was a nationally ranked age group swimmer in his youth, varsity basketball player in high school and lacrosse player throughout college. In 2008 he finished the Marine Corp Marathon and numerous other endurance races but was ultimately unsatisfied with the long training hours and the chronic injuries that excessive running was causing him. In 2009, he discovered CrossFit and never looked back! He has since devoted himself entirely to training others and helping them to achieve their fitness goals.
Brett is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the NSCA, a Level 1 CrossFit coach and formerly spent 5 months interning with renowned strength coach and corrective exercise specialist Eric Cressey. During the Cressey internship he trained hundreds of professional athletes, many with acute and chronic injuries.
Brett is also a father and husband, enjoys meditation, reading and holds a Master’s degree in English.
Jamie Brause
Jamie has been a CrossFit instructor since 2012 and got his start at Rugged CrossFit in Allston. He graduated from Boston University in 2011 where he received a B.A. in Philosophy. After four years of navel-gazing he decided to do a complete 180 and begin a career in the fitness industry. One of the things he love most about coaching is getting the opportunity to communicate with people from so many different backgrounds. He believes the core of coaching is being able to teach and share ideas with someone who may have a vastly different physical experience from your own, and he strives to be able to work well with people of every experience level, from D1 college athletes to 70+ year olds who have been sedentary their entire lives.
Jamie is passionate about the “regularly learn and play new sports” aspect of the CrossFit philosophy. He’s participated in many different athletic pursuits in his life, including things like skiing, wrestling, soccer, track and field, capoeira, strongman, and circus arts. He firmly believes that only by exposing yourself to a wide range of inputs and experiences can you really appreciate and recognize all the amazing things your body is capable of. His biggest hope as a coach is that he can share his enthusiasm for movement culture with CFCC’s members and encourage them to never stop exploring and learning!
Kay Wiese
A graduate of the CFCC intern program class of 2015, Kaylyn has a passion for all things CrossFit and CFCC. She is a true believer in the power of the CFCC intern program to take you to the next level of coaching. After graduating the intern program, she took on the role of coaching members of CFCC in both CrossFit and gymnastics. To say that Kaylyn loves CrossFit is a gross understatement. After starting CrossFit at age 14, Kaylyn has continued to pursue both competitive CrossFit as well as coaching. Kaylyn is a regionally ranked competitor and when she’s not training, you’ll find her helping the members of CFCC with their gymnastics. Kaylyn truly believes anyone can CrossFit and can’t wait to help the next class of interns achieve their goals.
Raya Alageel
Also a graduate of the CFCC intern program, Raya is an experienced Crossfitter as well as a resident coach at CFCC. Raya enjoys exploring the outdoors. She is actively investing time in hiking, biking, kayaking, and climbing. She started CrossFit in Saudi Arabia in 2013 and helped establish the first CrossFit box for women. Recently, she has developed an interest in competitive powerlifting. She loves coaching weightlifting and is the director of the fundamentals program and the bootcamp program. She is always down for a karaoke night, especially if you’re singing “Gansta’s Paradise”
Jose Yarzebski
Also a graduate of the CFCC intern program, Jose currently serves as a coach at CFCC. Jose loves travel, photography, and being outside. He started CrossFit over six years ago for off season soccer training and fell in love. Jose is attending BU for a masters in nutrition and loves food.
